System Requirements

Operating System

Starting from version 34, only 64-bit versions of the following operating systems are supported:

• Windows 8+
• macOS 10.7+
• Linux

Please note that some external tools may only be available on specific operating systems. For more details, refer to the “Data Analysis Tools” chapter of the manual.

For older packages, if needed, visit http://ugene.net/download-all.html.

RAM

A minimum of 512 MB of RAM is required. At least 2 GB of RAM is recommended for optimal performance.

Disk Space

The minimum required disk space depends on the UGENE components installed. At least 1 GB is recommended. To install all components, including NGS modules for ChIP-seq and metagenomic data processing, approximately 250 GB is required.

Display

A screen resolution of 1280 x 720 or greater is recommended.

Internet

An internet connection is required for certain tasks, such as loading data from online databases.

UGENE leverages your system’s capabilities: the more RAM and cores available, the faster you will obtain the results of your calculations.
